I work as a receptionist in what was once the original Southwest General Hospital. While I have yet to see any posts that go along with my own experiences, I believe some of it comes from the fact that I am in one of the quieter parts of the building and most tend to not put too much stock into the statements of the residents.
Anyway, it tends to get really quiet near the end of my shift. One night, during the late autumn I was sitting up at the desk

reading. All of a sudden, right in front of my face, I heard a whistle. It was a little tune, cheery, and trying to get my attention. I whipped up, and

there was no one there. Now I sat behind a tall desk. When my head was lowered, I was pretty hard to see from behind it. So someone would have had to get on their tip-toes just to reach me. Even then, it would have been above me, and no one would have been able to run away that fast.
On another night I was walking down the hall, going to stamp mail when I heard the sound of a heart monitor beeping lightly from one of the doorways. I was in the
