To think back then no one ever locked their doors! Yikes! That was the last time I ever stayed there.

I grew up in a little village near Columbus Grove called Vaughnsville. A lot of the people there were older so it was quiet - and they didn't care for the little kids running around. It was a pretty old place and there were a lot of old homes dating back to the turn-of-the-century and even before.
You can imagine a lot of us kids had stories to share about ghosts and the bats in the belfrey of the old schoolhouse before it got torn down. One night I had gone upstairs in my house after watching an episode of unsolved mysteries with my mom.

I was kind of creeped out from the show anyway, but I was sitting in the dark in my little brother's room talking to him when we began hearing the sound of a chainsaw coming from behind our house. Our house was separated from the woods behind our house by a few hundred yards of corn field.

The chainsaw noise was coming from those woods in the distance. My brother and I looked at each other like wth? And went to find some of our older siblings because it freaked us out. Whenever anyone else heard it they were all just as confused.
Who would be out in the woods around ten at night using a chainsaw? It wasn't cold out so it shouldn't be for firewood right? We had no idea. The noise continued for a while and we kept looking out the back second floor windows to see if we could catch a light out there in the dark - the woods weren't thick.
Of course we never saw anything but the noise was enough to scare the heck out of us. I think we all stayed awake that night.
