I lived in Macksburg and swear the house we lived in was haunted... I would wake up and see a dark mass beside my bed many times... The basement was very eerie as well... I hated to go down there.

We lived in an old house where one of the bedrooms was used as my toy room. One time I was playing and heard this scratching it got louder and faster like something was tearing up the walls. At other times people would say they would wake up to see someone standing over them doors would slam and wind would come rushing down from upstairs.

There is an old school on the edge of Macksburg and there has been numerous occasions where kids have gone inside for a fun game of manhunt and seen ghosts.... and seen the ghost of a teacher that hanged in school wandering around the school at night.

Comment by Toni: I do not believe this story. My family moved to Macksburg in 1957. I went to school in this building from 5th thru 8th grade. My younger siblings went to school there until they closed the school.
Long after the school closed a couple of great people turned it into a recreation center for the kids.
After the rec center closed the building just fell a part from lack of care. In all these years I have never heard any thing about this building being haunted!!!.
