From Nov. 2000 to June 2002 my ex and I occupied an old farmhouse on Shreve Eastern Road. It was a few miles from the Shreve swamps. The house as far as I know is still there, and at my last check back in 2007 was unoccupied. It sits right on the edge of the road after the sharp bend past Cemetery Road. We were told by the prior occupant that the house was approximately 150 years old, and it was at least believed that it was built sometime in the mid

to late 1800s as it had not ever been updated - only added on to. The original structure was clearly the style of a 19th-century farmhouse. Even the cellar
|
walls were made of rough boulders that had not been shaped or in any way formed as walls. They were only laid in place to form a crude basement structure under the house. It was built into the side of a hill so that part of the basement walked out into the yard. The rent was cheap. For two kids fresh out of high school expecting a baby we could not turn it down despite numerous problems with the house itself.
