Pomeroy was also an abolitionist during and used his used his house as a stop as a house on the underground railroad and hid the slaves in his cellar and provided them with food conceal them in loads of hay and by wagon to the rocky River to boats leaving for canada.
|
His daughter gertrude lived there until 1963 when she moved out. The house then fell into disrepair and became a target for vandals and a home for the ''pomeroy house ghost'' or in later years ghosts.
The house eventually became a restaurant and was known as don's Pomeroy house. Employees have reported several strange happenings since then. A paranormal investigator came and sensed paranormal activity within the house. The spirits are friendly and include Alanson gertrude and slaves. Perhaps they're keeping an eye on the place.
