happy dog that used to live next door or was it a form of protection attached to my husband? I didn't see the dog again. Submitted by CC

I moved to Troy while I was in the 3rd grade. My father and his wife bought a home on W. Race Street. It was as ugly as sin, but it was our home. The woman who lived there before we did had passed away. Her name was Dottie. The house was built in 1886, and it was seriously stuck in the 1970s, so my dad decided to remodel it. He turned it into something beautiful, and I have some stories I'd like to share.

At first it was nothing. There was just this harmless feeling of someone constantly watching you. It freaked me out of course. One day everyone was gone except my dad and me. He was out in the garage, and I was in my room coloring. I was hearing footsteps, and I knew no one else was in the home. I ran outside and told my dad ''I think the house is haunted,'' and the only response I got was ''I know''. We haven't spoken about it since.
Then I started seeing shadows. I'd see faces in the s windows when I was outside playing. When you walked upstairs there was this one giant room. We called it a ''landing''. It had two bedrooms off of it. In the ''landing'' there were bunk beds at one point. One of my brothers had a friend stay the night, and he saw people standing on the stairs.
One time my parents were sanding and staining the floors in the house. They moved everything out of the living room into the great room. We were all sleeping upstairs because of the remodeling, and I was in the ''landing,'' and I remember seeing the light from the TV at the bottom of the stairs, and the channels were turning. Everyone was asleep within ten feet of me.
