The house was later torn down. There's nothing of it now just the parking lot to the sleep center of Mercey Hospital. Submitted by Ralph

The Ashton house on 18th ave. N. reportedly has the ghost of the wife of a riverboat captain. Some lawyers lived in the house in the 1970s. One got up in the middle of the night and saw the ghost lady at a window. Submitted by Eric
Comment by Rudolph: The Ashton house has gothic architecture and a cobble stone sidewalk. The Lakins later tenants found a secret room behind a bookcase in the library. This room might have been used to hide escaped slaves making their way north on the underground railroad. The ghost was a woman in white.

Comment by Jimmy: I'd like to know who has actually seen the ghost of the woman. I have walked by that house in all weathers at various times of the day and night and a few times around the porch but have never seen anything unusual.
