My mom and I lived in an apartment on 7th ave south across from ace hardware. I was 9. It was a couple days after my moms birthday and she had gotten a bouquet of balloons which were tied together with a ribbon.
It was early spring; all the windows were closed and the furnace was not turned on. I came home from school (mom was at work) and plopped down in my beanbag chair to watch TV. All of a sudden one of the balloons detached itself and floated through the living room hallway kitchen and bathroom then turned around and came right back to the rest of the balloons.

Mom came home shortly after that and saw that I was very scared. She called the landlord and he rushed over. Then he saw my beanbag chair and very nonchalantly told mom a lady had been murdered by her boyfriend and they found her body in the same spot my chair was.

Years later I told my mother-in-law this story and she remembered the crime. She took me to the library so we could look up details of the story.

Comment by Nikki: If it's the same apartment as I lived in right across from ace hardware/salvation army I had a few incidents there as well. Creepy. I thought I was just losing my mind!.
Comment by Dryw: Someone I work with lives in that building now and he said that the girl who was murdered was decapitated and she's always slamming doors and throwing stuff on the ground.
