I was doing some time at the Davenport County Jail back in 2001. I was laying in bed, waiting for breakfast. When all of a sudden, I saw my blankets move off of from on the top of my head (without the blankets being folded over). Then I could feel something LARGE lay on top of me, and I tried calling out for help from another inmate that was in the next cell, but I couldn't mutter a word at all.

After about 5 minutes or so, I could feel it getting off of me; that is when I jumped up, and ran into his cell, yelling, ''Please tell me you were messing around!!!'' He was laying the wrapped up in like 7-8 blankets, and I knew then that he couldn't have done it because I also didn't hear him running back into his cell. Also, he was breathing slowly, so I knew he was telling the truth. He then said to me...... ''WHAT THE HELL HAPPENED TO YOUR NECK''? I said, what do you mean, and he told me to go look in the mirror. I looked in the mirror, and I could see that there was a HAND-PRINT around my throat.

I told the guards later, and one of the guards FINALLY TOLD ME THIS....... Back in the early 1900's, the jail used to HANG the inmates, and the HANGINGS happened RIGHT ABOVE MY CELL. He told me he went up there to look around, and it was dark, and creepy. He said that he had a REAL BAD FEELING come over him, and he said NOBODY EVER GOES UP THERE AT ALL ANY MORE. Other inmates have said that the lights, cell doors, showers will come on all the time, and the cell doors would open a lot too. The thing that I struck as odd is that every single person I told this at the jail..... Believed me and said... Don't stay in that cell.. Bad things can happen to you!!.
