This is a true story. I work in the Recorder's office for Franklin County in Hampton, Iowa. In the Recorder's office we have death and marriage records, and there is a record of lady of the lake. A long time ago not very many people knew how to swim. After church people would go to Beeds Lake and wade in the water to cool off. Well, her three kids were there wading, one of her kids went out too far and started drowning, so she went after him and started

drowning too because she didn't know how to swim either. Another one of her kids tried to save her. Then they started to drown. The last kid went for

help but when he got back it was too late. People say on moonlight nights you can see her crying. Submitted by Shayla

I lived in Hampton almost all my life and growing up our ghost story was the lady of the lake. A lady and her baby went out on a boat in the middle of beeds lake and it sunk her body was found the baby wasn't found so now she looks for her baby almost every night around 3 am. She's a white form that walks on water to the middle of the lake presumbly where the boat sank. Submitted by Ashley
