In the 1800s there was an attempt to build a canal here. During the project one of the workers died under very mysterious circumstances, probably murder. After he died his ghost came back to sabotage work constantly, and some blame the failure to complete the canal on the ghost. The ghost is still active. Other industrial projects near the place he was killed have been plagued by unexplained accidents and bad luck. He's one angry ghost, I wouldn't mess
