Both our dogs started barking at the door as they heard it too. When I opened the door nobody was there. And finally my wife saw a white apparition fly around the outside of the house during the day and we both heard someone knocking at the back door seconds later.
When we went to answer it nobody was there.

Comment by Loren: I grew up in this house. One night about 2 am I was awakened by the sound of a child crying outside. I got out of bed and went to the window and saw a little boy walking down the street. I quickly ran downstairs thinking that this boy had walked away from a group of people or something. When I got outside there was no child, and the night was extremely quiet. I never knew what happened that night.

The local grocery store in Lake City is said to be haunted by the ghost of a little girl who drowned in lake Pepin. A closing manager once saw her muddy footprints on the freshly mopped floors late at night.
Other employees are known to catch a glimpse of a person when there are no customers in the store. Balloons have also been seen being pulled off the ceiling as if an invisible child hand was tugging it.
