We used to live in a small house on South Franklin Street. Often time the 'grey' man would visit in the early morning or late night hours. I would sometimes hear a young child cry. There were no children around at the time, however. Once it sounded so strong; I went outside and looked around for a lost child, but there was no one. There were electrical oddities there; yet, the wiring was up to date. TV would just turn off or on by itself. The hall light would also turn off by itself (but never on).
I'd have repeated nightmares of someone saying ''help me. '' Sometimes while in the basement, a person would hear unexplained scratching at the door, and yet there was nothing there (no people, pets, or errant squirrels etc. ) Later when I had a dog and cat in the house, both growled in unison at the same time for no reason as if they sensed something bad. The kids would report a malevolent feeling in the upstairs bedrooms. I sensed it downstairs. While cleaning up to move, in the basement, scratched onto the bottom of the chimney I found the words ''help me. '' It gave me goose bumps.

It was not until we no longer lived in the house that I seriously gave thought to the house being haunted in some way. After moving, these things never happened again. Also, according to the house history, it is rumored to have been a store before being a home and prior to that, farmland. Who knows what secrets the land knows.

Anyone know of any history about the old Lincoln apartment building next to Main Jaing House? I've lived here 4 years and whatever is here is getting stronger. I'm almost scared enough to move but still very curious.
