When I was just a child my parents sent me away for a week with my church group to a week long bible camp at Camp House in Brimson, Minnesota near Two Harbors MN. The camp still exists to this day (6/1/2013) and is currently run by the Green Lake Lutheran Ministries.
Camp House bible camp is an old Railroad camp that was sold by the railroad (I think BNSF, Canadian Pacific, or Soo - I can't be sure which) and was turned into a youth

bible camp.
The tale that was told to me during the camp was the tale of the person called the ''Brimson Man''. The story changes according to

who told it but the premise was the same, a man in his mid-30's who had a wife and several children went mad and killed his whole family and attempted to burn down the house they lived in. The fire department arrived and found the charred remains of the family except the father.... All they could find were foot prints leading in the northern Minnesota woods.
According to the story a massive manhunt went and couldn't find more than a boot print
