It was 1947 or 1948 I lived in a Quonset hut somewhere along the north end of Custer Avenue. I believe it was government housing for BLM employees. My dad worked as a draftsman on the Yellowtail Dam Project. Most of the kids I played with were Sioux. One day one of the kids and I were hanging out just north of a bridge that went over a creek. A delivery truck would drive through, and that day a loaf of bread fell off. We scooped it up and devoured it

in one sitting.
Nearby was an old building the door faced south, and about fifteen feet inside was a railing like a court house or church. Along

the west wall was a closet. It must have had a window to the outside. The guy I was with said that sometimes when you went into the coat room a sword would come through the key hole. We went into the closet and sure enough within less than a minute a sword (like a fencing foil) came through the keyhole. It may have been that he set me up, but it creeped me out.
We left Hardin in 1949 and moved to Fort Collins Colorado where my dad went to college. Submitted
