I work as a nurse at Prairie St. Johns in Fargo. This place is CRAWLING with ... Something. Back in the 1960's supposedly a nun hanged herself in what is the 5 South Office present day, because she got pregnant and could not deal with the shame and embarrassment.. That's the story anyways.

I haven't seen anything outright, but one night I was 1:1 staff with a high acuity patient. Earlier in that shift all but two doors on the unit were closed (to keep an even cooling from the a/c and keep the thermostat at rest)... All of the sudden my patient, who has profound autism, while having his evening snack stopped eating, turned away from the end of the hall and said ''Uh-Oh... ''. I asked him what was the matter - all of the sudden it got very cold and I turned around to see that all 10 of the doors on the unit were open - not just the two before. I instantly had the hair on my neck stand up and we left the unit immediately.

Other staff have said they've actually seen faces in the shadows, heard crying at night (which in a psych ward isn't unheard of, but in places where patients aren't located) and even seen papers fly around by themselves - I haven't... I have never smelled any foul odors such as what are reported a lot, but I can only report what I experienced. I can imagine aside from the supposed Nun Suicide that being that this was a medical hospital before it became a psych hospital in the late 1990's there are probably quite a few spirits around here and there.

Comment by Doesnt Matter: Just going to clarify what Prairie Hospital is, it's not a psych ward! It's a treatment center! This person rudely exclaimed this place as a ''nut house'', it's not a nut house. It's just a place where people seek treatment.

Comment by Born here: They never say ''nut house'' they said psych hospital which is the exact same thing as a treatment center, it's a mental health hospital specializing in psychological help! Use your time wisely instead of reading into what someone says or means on their personal experience postings!.

Comment by Spirt love: Back in 1943 a little girl who was only three was brought to st. Johns hospital after being unresponsive the ambulance driver got her breathing again . Once at the hospital she seemed to be doing well sometime early into the next morning she took a turn for the worse.
So at 2:00 am the fire team had to bring in the iron lung; she never made it. So if she's still there she's probably just scared.
