and slept there for the night. We moved. To this day I still think about that house and wonder if the people who live there know they might be in trouble.

I've lived in Galesville my whole life. My family was one of the original settlers there. We lived in a couple of different houses around the area. We as kids always heard the Homer house on the corner of Fourth Street and West Ridge Streets was haunted. It was a huge brick house that were apartments when I was a kid. The owners over years let the beautiful Victorian go and let the tenants run over the house. There were bad people who lived there back then. When I was in my late teens, about 1977, a friend and myself decided to go in the house to look around. There were a few apartments there, and we knew they were all gone for the night except an old man, so we knew we had to be quiet, so we wouldn't wake him. We took the long steep covered staircase in the back of the house to a door and went inside. Right inside the door were stairs that went downstairs.

Once we got down there to a bank of doors we stopped because we felt like someone else was there. We stood there for what seemed like an hour listening carefully. We could hear breathing and footsteps. It was so close to us. I put my arm out to feel in the dark I put my hand on a curved wall and followed it, and there was a door. I pulled my hand down the door to the door handle, and I felt it twist in my hand quickly. I jerked my hand back fast as the door flew open, and something yelled ''get out now!'' It was a man's voice, and it sounded far away, but I could feel like it was right in front of me. I said ''go now. '' It yelled again. We didn't move fast but started up the staircase trying to be quiet. Then we heard a woman's voice say ''stop. Leave them alone. '' When we heard the woman's voice we ran as fast as we could.

The next day we found out that there was nobody in the house at all that night. I've heard stories about that house that were similar to mine. The house was bought many years ago and was restored. I talked with the owner and her husband. They have strange things to happen to them too there. There are new owners now, but I have never talked to them to see if they have anything happen. When I drive past there I still feel chills, and only one time have I seen the old woman in the upstairs window, but people say you can see her there a lot.

Comment by Joseph: I live like three or four blocks over like what the hell that is messed up. I want to learn more about that house now.
