I was doing volunteer work in the old church on the corner of Lasalle and High Streets which was turned into a Montessori school. I fired up the shop vac in the downstairs hallway sucking up the unkeyed plaster I was repairing. I became aware of loud banging that stopped seconds after I turned off the vac. This scenario repeated itself a handful of times. Sometimes it would stop instantly. Other times the banging would carry on for a few moments.

I was doing maintenance, I checked the boiler room, the wiring HVAC, and everything I could think of. To reproduce the sound I could pound on a desk as

hard as I could with my fist, and still I would fall short. Eventually I climbed the stairs and approached the two large dark rooms, and it stopped. I was spooked and went back downstairs, but it kept happening. Every time I'd go up, it would stop.
Finally I put my big boy pants on and went in to look around. I spoke to it and told it who I was and what I was doing. I told it I read the Bible and that it wasn't supposed to be there. The noise
