character and, I think, its spirit. The feeling I had in walking the halls and in the closed dark spaces in the classrooms and in our old offices in 216 was gone. Maybe whatever was there has moved on. Maybe all I ever felt was the effects of sleep-deprivation, my staff thinking the ghost they saw was mere hallucinating from Jolt cola, or maybe something wanted to tell us a story?.

We lived on E. Union Street until I was 8 1/2 years old. When I was pretty young I woke up in the middle of the night, and there was a white smoky ghost at the foot of me bed. I tried to scream, but I couldn't! It spoke to me and tried to calm me down but was frustrated with me. Then at some point I closed my eyes. Then I opened them, and the ghost was gone. I was so relieved when we moved.

In 2001 I lived on Maple Street two houses from the post office. It was a two-story white house. There are three rooms on the first floor. I rented the one at the top of the stairs. One night I was lying in bed almost asleep, my door started to rattle violently. I got up to see if anybody was in the kitchen or hallway or going up the stairs. I did not see anybody, so I went back in my room. I shut the door, locked the deadbolt, and lay back down. Within a matter of minutes I heard what sounded like a tarp being rolled.
I opened my eyes, and in the corner I saw a black figure in the shape of a human. As soon as I saw it, it rushed towards me. I felt myself being pushed back down into my mattress, and I started to hyperventilate. I remember trying to say to myself ''what is happening?'' All that came out of my mouth was a bunch of garble. It sounded like me speaking in tongues, and then it was over. This is a true story that can be verified by a woman by the name of Sherry. I now live in the state of Virginia.
