I was about eleven years old when we lived in Algonquin, IL. We lived over the top of a dentist office on the square. When we first moved in the people who lived there before us had left in a hurry there were clothes and suitcases and mail all over the floor. There was a knife mark on one of the suitcases.
At first we would hear footsteps. Then we would see things moved and even food eating and lights going on and off. One night we all in the living room and a voice came though the radio. We all napped in the living room afraid to be alone. After that we could all feel someone or something touch our foreheads. Then the next day we heard noises coming from the back bedroom. We went to look, and the window had been opened, and no one was there. Then we saw a closet door shaking and door knob moving. We went downstairs to speak with the dentist, but he knew nothing of the sort, but we all thought he knew.

That night my sister saw a man standing over her with a knife, but he was gone in a few seconds. She has not been the same since. We all left that night, but the house tried to keep us. We could hear an evil voice coming from it and lights flashing on and off, but we made it out. I found out that there was an underground passage years ago for the war and the place was haunted by the ghost of that time.

Comment by JB: Hi! Where exactly was the dentist office? I live in old town Algonquin right off of Main Street. My house is definitely haunted.

When I was younger I always used to see this tall and thin black figure that zipped across my house and even in my grandmother's house (also in Algonquin.) Sometimes it would stop in one place for a few seconds before. I was so scared I had to hide under a blanket until it would be gone. I only talked to it once. It sounded like my cousin (who lived in Algonquin at the time as well) even though my doors were locked windows shut, and she was at her own house. 'She' was asking for some snacks. I got up to peep into the other room to greet her, but no one was there. I saw the black figure disappear into the pantry, and I was too scared to even go over to investigate.
