My family lived in a house on Euclid ave. In Lewistown about 47 years ago. The basement had been part of the underground railroad. My mother and father heard voices at night from the basement that would awaken them.

They became alarmed when they heard footsteps going to the children's rooms and moved out of the house! Prior to that whenever they went downstairs the voices would stop but often it sounded like sounds that could have come from the previous underground railroad days.
They told no-one of this until years later but neighbors also reported that they had residential ''ghosts. '' they said they were ''friendly. '' I have also heard of experiences in surrounding areas but find the underground railroad stories interesting.
It is too bad that the mansion that they escaped to in the park is no longer there.
