remember any of our friends that would stay the night at our house.
We always had to sleep over at our friends homes. I found a picture of the house from when we visited in the 1990 s and will upload it to you when I submit my next story. Talk to you soon - Lucinda.

Hey! Lucinda again. Here to write some more about our '' haunted Columbia house''. In it's time the house laid claim to the largest farm in Illinois. It was owned by Germans. In the screened in porch which was hugh there was huge pots and oven cemented into one wall.

This was for making slaw pickle Rhine ect. A smoke house and slave / worker rooms upstairs. In the main house on the third floor always seemed to be to be a spookier part of the house. You went up these very narrow stairs to two lage rooms divided by double doors.

In the second room there was an iron ring. It was said the slave would be brought up there tied to the ring and receive his or her punishment. Many times we kids could be out playing in the yard and the lights upstairs would just ''come on.
'' my older sisters tried having their bedroom up there but always ended up moving back to the second floor. I'll try to find out why. More on the Columbia house later.
