My house on W Chicago St. has been extremely haunted- we cleared it but things are coming back. Some are benevolent and find lost jewelry placing the item where it can be easily found.

I used to live in a corner house on Silver St. In Elgin. One night I was in the house by myself playing a game on the laptop. I heard what sounded like someone with cowboy boots walk past me and into the kitchen. The only problem there was no one there. Thinking I was loosing it I walk into the kitchen only to see the refrigerator door open, a moment later it closed. So I advise whoever it was to take anything they want just not the Dr. Pepper. My son slept in the upstairs bedroom next to the bathroom. Every night he would wake up screaming about the ''Vampire is going to get me'' Knowing I don't let him watch that kind of stuff, I ask him where the ''Vampire'' is, he points to the bathroom closet and says he's in there waiting to push someone down the stairs. As my 3-year-old is telling me this I'm thinking someone let him watch something he wasn't supposed to and don't think anything else about it.

A few nights later I see a shadow come out of my son's room and go into the closet. Being the way I am I fling the door open and search the closet with my flashlight but find nothing but towels and TP. My little boy says ''daddy you saw the Vampire, now you believe me. '' A few months later my roommate is in the basement looking for something and finds some paper work from someone who lived there from the 1920's. We never could figure out what happened to the person. We would constantly see shadows cross the living room, but no one was there. One of the weirdest things that happened was one night, I was on the computer and I heard a whisper, so I turned around. As I was looking in the living room I saw something about chest level in the middle of the living room. Then it fell to the floor and rolled around finally stopping about a foot from my chair. I was looking at it, and it was a man's gold wedding ring. Weird isn't it.
Needless to say I no longer live there, and my son no longer sees the ''Vampire'', nor do we hear footsteps everyday. Hopefully whoever lives there now is getting their chance to experience the weirdness of the house.

Comment by Denise: Hi John. I live on Lawrence half a block west of Silver Street. I'm very curious which corner you lived on as Silver Street isn't very long. In the 18 or so months I have lived here, I have felt presences but not evil, if anything comforting. The phone I had when I first moved in I could hear other voices through, so I started recording during the night with a sleep App. Sure enough the app recorded the same three ''things'' multiply times a night every night. After that phone had gotten broken I never heard those noises again. Only in this house though, not where I lived before or any place else I was at.
