This picture was taken in October 2010 at the cemetery behind the old Elgin State Mental Institution (today it is the Elgin Mental Health Center). For over 100 years Elgin State operated as the Illinois State Institution for the insane where the unwanted were sent to die and many unspeakable experiments were performed during the infancy of treating mental diseases. Over 1000 people are buried in this ''Potter's Field'' and it has a long held reputation as being haunted. I've heard that even the Elgin police won't go in there after dark.
The person in the picture is Diane, founder and owner of Historic Ghost Tours of Naperville and we were out scouting this location for inclusion in her new ghost tour of Elgin. Notice how something is definitely manifesting behind Diane!!! And, funny how she is turning around as if she notices something, but is not sure what. But, my camera caught it!! And, this isn't an ''orb'' picture that can be dismissed as an insect, humidity or a camera glitch.
I went on 3 of the night tours of the cemetery and did get a lot of orb pictures. But, what was more exciting was that several people felt themselves getting touched and two people were actually scratched when they opened up their big mouths and tried to provoke the spirits. Not a good idea at this cemetery where the spirits are still angry over the torture and other indignities they suffered in life.
