Many years ago my family farmed an old farmstead, and we lived in the house between Mt. Pulaski and Elkhart. My dad was a non believer who preferred to explain everything away to a logical explanation. The story on the farm was about a hot tempered man that owned the farm. He was from a very wealthy Kentuckian family. Old money, they raised purebred horses and sold them to race. He raised horses but also farmed. This was back in the 1800s. He got into a fight

with a man and killed him because he was trespassing on his land. The family kept him from getting hanged and loosing the farm. He was an alcoholic and

when we moved in there were brown jugs everywhere. The basement had a cellar and part of it had later on been made into a basement. In one part was a door where in the 1940s and 1950s (and maybe even in the 1960s) coal was delivered to heat the house. It was a spooky dark place, and every time I would go down there to do laundry I would get the feeling someone was watching me.
