We lived in a house about 7 miles west of Geneseo IL on rt 6 in the 1990s. Over the course of 3 years we had various ''encounters'' with sightings (whole body as well as lights), sounds (voices), and physical apparitions (''smoke'' appearing in mid air and going up through the ceiling).
And a clock which would frequently stop at 2:30 in the morning. We still have the clock and it keeps perfect time. We also saw an ''older woman'' in a black dress sometimes

upstairs and sometimes downstairs.
There was a ''presence'' in the basement'' as well as the barn (since torn down) which was very ominous. Supposedly

there was an incident of violence in the house involving a daughter(who was to be married soon) and a farm hand who had feelings for her.

Comment by Ron: Anyway of knowing how old the daughter was? Just recently saw something strange just about that spot. I told a coworker about my encounter and she asked what color of hair she had. She had a similar sighting but about 5 miles east of my sighting, both happening in the early morning hours different days. Dressed the same in summer pajamas. She was just standing along Rt.6.
