I grew up in Glen Ellyn in a ranch style home on Grove Avenue that was haunted. As a young child I always avoided the basement. Hair on my arms and neck would stand as I went down the stairs and always an oppressive feeling down there. When I was in the 3rd grade my dad renovated the basement and added another bedroom there. As luck would have it, my older brother and I were relocated to that room. Remember having a cassette player, and one night I was

listening to it. I thought it was playing backwards because the music stopped and odd voices were coming out of my headphones. I pressed the stop button

and turned it back on, and the voices continued. I ran and got my brother to show him and it was music again.
During this time my parents were going through a divorce, and I was somewhat traumatized by this. Things continued to get stranger during this time. Books would fall out of the bookcase at night. I'd feel something around me constantly when in the basement and was terrified. When we turned the lights off to go to bed it was pitch black,
