I lived in a house in Herrin that was haunted .. I saw a young girl around 7 or 8 .. She looked very real, just as real as us.. I'm not sure why she picked me or why she followed me .. Submitted by Amy

I have lived in the same house in Herrin for 27 years now have seen several see through people here and have caught a soldier on my camera and a lot of orbs. Some of the orbs are bright and large and I have caught mist pictures of figures on my camera.

The most scared I have ever been is when one sat on our bed and you felt it sit down and saw the butt impression. Seen a large shadow behind me one afternoon in the kitchen and my husband saw an older man in coveralls standing in the front door and then he vanished.

Comment by Andrea: Depending on where this all happened and for how long it had been going on it's quite possible . As for the Mayflower stuff... That was centuries before Illinois was even inhabited by Europeans. However knowing the back history of the town helps very much. Very interesting.

I only have a story of hearing voices coming from an empty house in Herrin - my grandparent's house. However Herrin has a violent history including the mine massacre in 1930's (I think) ku klux klan violence against italian immigrant Catholics ku klux klan shootout with U.
