Comment by Vickie: It's true your car won't start and you can hear people in the corn but no light, and no disappearances have ever occurred. You can see Gracie though wondering the foundation. There's no longer a basement.
Comment by Texasgirlnow: I grew up just north of where Gracie's Mansion used to be and my dad farmed the field right across the road from the property. The house was gone by the time I was growing up. (Well before 1970. ) I was told that the house had a ''dog run'', a widows peak window, and possibly a tunnel that connected other homes of the same time frame that may have been used during the time of the underground railway. If people have gone to investigate, there's a good chance that the voices and lights they witnessed may very well have been ''partiers'' (alcohol &/or drugs). A few years ago, my nieces and friends of theirs, were visiting from Texas. We took them to Gracie's in the back of my dad's pickup. On the way, we were telling them the ''ghost stories''. We drove into the back of the property and the teens got out of the truck and started walking around. Soon we heard some moaning and clanking of chains. Boy, you should have seen the three of them JUMP back into the truck. (It WASN'T a ghost.... Instead, it was my best friend's dad, that we had called to come out and spook them. ) It was SO funny. I've never seen anyone move SO fast. Priceless!!.

I have lived here since I was a little girl. Weird things happen here all the time. I was married in 2001 and we moved into our own home and we would hear voices and people walking through our house at night. We actually have been wakened by hearing footsteps and voices in the middle of the night. My husband and I were cooking thanksgiving dinner one night and something jumped off of our roof and it landed on our cellar and the footsteps disappeared in the snow and we never could trace them. Also at night you can hear people screaming and music playing off in the north east side off town and we have gone to see where it is coming from and we have gotten right where the sounds are coming from and there is nothing there and it quits....
