I was driving through Lake Villa from Vernon Hills last night with my husband. As we were driving, a car sped up and was tailgating very closely behind us. We sped up progressively to gain some distance, but it kept up. It was so dangerously close; we were convinced we'd be hit. There's no way for us to turn off to get away from this car as the road was straight with businesses on either side, so we just kept going. Eventually we got to a busy intersection,

and as we turned on our turn signals the car disappeared. Has this happened to anyone else before? Please tell me it has. Submitted by Jonni

I grew up in an old house in Lake Villa, and I could go on and on with the weird stuff that happened over my life growing up there. We have had doors opened and closed and lights on and off. One day I heard my mom call me. My sister heard me call her, and my mom heard my sister call her. We all got together to find out what the other wanted. NO ONE called each other. One winter (disclosure I was at a slumber party in Lindenhurst where we played with an Ouija board before this incident, but it was by far not the first incident in this house) I sat in bed most of the night and listened to something's steps walking back and forth heavily in the attic, except there wasn't enough space up there for something to walk upright. We saw the previous (deceased) owner and always felt like you were being watched in this house. I thought I was imagining it when I grew up and moved out, but I had to move home for a time after a divorce, and sure enough I wasn't.
I'm very intuitive anyway, and I could go on and on, but given proximity to water, churches and cemeteries, as far as profiles and locations it was no wonder this place was nuts. Also there used to be that old folks home on Cedar Avenue. It's torn down now. When I was little many of those elder people would wander around the neighborhood and look in our windows. They would attempt to open our doors. I can't help but wonder. We have Native Americans in the area, these old folks, storm of death, and spirit energy in that area. How would it NOT be haunted? Sadly the folks who bought it after my mom passed rent it out, and it's becoming quite decrepit, which breaks my heart. (There are also the energy and bizarre things that happened in the home around the time of my mom's passing -- an entire other story. ) BUT I do believe around the time of birth and death the evil really does thing to allow entry and exit of our souls. I've experienced it. I also know a number of others whose homes had activity in little Lake Villa (some newer homes as well. ) Per capita it must be a pretty active place. Submitted by Anonomyssy
Comment by Ashley: Was your home off North Hwy 83? My parents are renting a home over there that was built in 1912, it scarys me silly! Mysterious stuff is always happening! Please reply to Ashleysparxedm @att. net.
