When I was 12 years old we lived in a house in Mahomet Illinois. The house is at the end (beginning) of Lincoln st (I cannot remember the name of the other Street it intersects with-maybe state? Been a long time ago) we used to walk to Lincoln school (think that was the name of it) anyway there were many nights I could not sleep because I would hear things.
I would hear a clock ticking like a pocket watch none of us had a pocket watch or even a

clock that you could hear the ticking on. I would hear people out on the balcony I would hear things in the walls mom would tell me it was the house settling

we slept upstairs and there were a couple of steps that would squeak when you stepped on them.
In the middle of the night I could hear someone walking up the stairs and the squeaking ones everyone would be in bed. I could never see anything but I heard them. Us kids got to nosing around and we found trap doors in the walls.
There was one in the upstairs wall when we took the little square door off it was like a crawl space or room in the walls.
