I owned the apartment building behind Fanco for years. One night I got a call from a police officer who had been called to the apartment building to investigate a report of screaming coming from an apartment on the second floor. He had heard the screaming while standing outside the door, and called for backup from Staunton.
The apartment was rented, but the tenants were out of the area at the time. I arrived, unlocked the door, and the officers went

in. There was no one in the apartment. Windows were locked from the inside, the 2nd floor door is the only entrance to that apartment. I'll never forget

the look on that cops face when he discovered that apartment was empty.
I talked to the tenant in the apartment next door, the tenant reported he heard screaming through the wall he shared with the other apartment. The tenant downstairs was the one that called 911, saying it was coming from the apartment above her. I never figured that out.
