My grandparents lived in an older home on Walnut near the end of town. I believe the old grocery store a couple of houses away is now a Casey's gas station. Anyway, the house has an interesting setup where the front and back bedrooms ran the width of the house with a landing in between that linked the bedrooms. There was a bathroom off to one side and the stairs on the other. The stairs were off the living room which also was the length of the front of the house.

so my grandma's chair was about halfway back. I was sitting next to her chair pretending to learn to crochet and suddenly felt very uncomfortable. I was a pretty fearless child, so I looked in the direction of the feeling. Leaning over the rail of the landing was a shadowman. He had no face but long arms and fingers. His head turned toward me, and I felt a feeling of darkness and dread. It was a terrifying feeling. I stared at them, then turned toward
