In 1974 my dad built a house on S. Meader Street , which is now Edmund Street about 1 / 4 mile from Messenger. We could hear the drums in Messenger woods on full moon nights. It is true there were satanic rituals there. There was a young woman found in the outhouse, and it looked like she was murdered . We were not allowed to go to Messenger woods, but when we got older we were typical teenagers. That place definitely was haunted! You always felt like

you were being watched. There is one tree that stands alone on the right when you pulled in. There was a large rock, and it had blood on it. We ran home

My daughter said that when my granddaughter was a baby she was fussing in the middle of the night. She got up to check on her and a shadowy figure was standing next to the crib looking down at the baby then disappeared.
My daughter did not feel worry or fear from the figure. The house is new, not an ''old haunted house''. Maybe it was an Indian spirit that lived in that wooded area long ago? Maybe it was her grandmother who died and came back to check on her new and only great-granddaughter?.
