The home I grew up in on North 6th was a 3-floor building. When I was about 11 my bedroom had gotten really cold one night, so I looked to see if the back door was open, and it was not. Then I saw this little girl standing at the door. Then she was gone. The next day me and my dad had to take our dog to the vet. As we were at the vet, we got a call that our house was on fire. When everything was said and done and we were able to return to the house,

I saw the silhouette of the little girl in the corner of my room, and she was praying. Submitted by Melissa

The fire started during practice for a Christmas pageant when somebody brushed up against a candle or gas jet and caught her costume made of some sort of oil cloth on fire. This person then panicked running through the crowd and spreading the fire. The little girls are buried in a cemetery out on State Street just east of 18th. There were no Christmas pageants at St Francis for almost 100 years. Submitted by Rob

We lived at 50x Madison St. and often saw our dog watch something ''cross'' the living room and dining room floor at night. One night I glanced down the basement stairs and saw what appeared to be just 2 legs move to the side and disappear quickly.
