I grew up in a house on Miriam, Rockford, IL. We had the ghost of ''Roger''. He was the man who built the house; he hanged himself during the depression and his wife sold the home to our family.
Roger used to run up and down the wooden stairs with his heavy shoes, twist door locks, slam doors, turn on the washing machine, and all sorts of mysterious totally unexplained events.

My family and I were the first people to live at a home on Cass Court in Rockford Illinois from 1978 to 1984. I don't remember when it started, but there was one phenomenon and only. We never talked about it to each other until years later. It was then we discovered we all had the very same experience. You would be sitting downstairs where the TV and stereo were. No matter how engrossed you were in a program on TV, you would still be snapped out of it by the unmistakable sounds of the electric garage door opening. We would hear car doors shutting, my father walking through the upper floor to his bedroom, followed by my mother carrying a doggy bag which you could hear her set on the counter.
You might think we imagined it; however, even the dog would run upstairs to meet them! It was when he returned downstairs that we would realize what had happened. This may not sound too frightening, but believe me it was. Many times I would run upstairs knife in hand searching for the intruders; who were of course never found. Upon first hearing the sounds each of us thought it was our parents arriving home as the sounds matched those of them returning. Anyone have any idea as to what this might have been?.
