The rez is creepy. I have a good friend who grew up in Roodhouse. I used to go swimming there with my family and other friends when I was small. The only thing that really scared the heck out of us all were the panthers.

Yes people there are panthers in Illinois! If you choose not to believe it that is just fine. However the one that attacked my friends car left deep claw prints on the truck as he slid off while my friend drove as fast as he could to get away.

My father was a policeman and he has seen them. They do not particularly want to be around people but if you are sitting down or bending over you can become panther food really quickly. Stay away from the woods at night.
You should never go there alone. And never never ever hunt those cats. They are smarter than you know and will turn the hunt around and hunt you! I grew up in Greene county. I have a lot of stories to tell.
Also the one they killed on the east side of chicaco has the same dna as the panthers of the Black Hills of Dakota. Macoupin Creek is a known hang out for them and they have a 500 mile hunting radius.
