I grew up near Saunemin and heard about the Saunemin giant decades ago. We always just thoguht it was the family who farmed there by 5 mile creek. The whole family was pretty good sized especially the fellas.
I can see why they might be seen as giants. If you trespassed on their land they would run you off with a gun in hand. They were really nice folks but didn't like someone stealing apples walnuts or livestock.

in looking for arrowheads along the river right where 5 mile creek enters the Vermillion River near a big meander there. We always thought the ghost angle

was just because someone got run off for trespassing.
Well that family has been gone for decades but the Saunemin giant stories keep coming in so I guess it must be ghosts. I remember seeing some pictures of the giant that were taken about 40 years ago? .
Someone brought them into a local diner in Saunemin and it was a big discussion topic for a while.
