I have seen the Saunemin giant along 5 mile creek before. At first I always thought it was just a huge giant of a guy that hung out there. When a group of us were driving along the road on a bridge that goes over 5 mile creek we saw him at the edge of the creek. On many different occasions over a period of several years we saw him at about that same spot. At first we just thought he was just a fisherman or hunter that hung out there. Later we saw him just walk through trees and fences as if they were not there! We always slow down near that bridge and look for him but I have not seen him recently .

After reading numerous reports on the Saunemin giant ghost I did some research. The spot where it's been sighted most often is where 5 mile creek enters the Vermillion river. According to old plat maps that spot borders land once owned by 2 different families the chambers and the hanleys. It is on the Saunemin side of the border between Saunemin township and Pleasant Ridge township. Based on numerous reports that area has had the Saunemin giant ghost sightings dating back to at least 1839 about the time the land was Homesteaded? It was even mentioned in a book covering the history of Livingston county families that was published in the 1800s.
