They just refered to it as the giant man seen along that creek area. A local report from about 1910 indicates that many Saunemin residents had seen the giant and feared it. A hunting party reported that they were in a field nearby and heard a sudden rush of wind from that spot.
Deer came bounding out of the nearby woods along with lots of birds rabbits etc. They then saw the giant man appear at the edge of the wooded area. He stood there shaking

his fist at them then walked over a slight ridge towards the river.
When the hunters went to the top of the ridge and looked for him he was gone. The

armed group searched the area but could not locate him. Supposedly an article from the Saunemin paper (in the 1960s? ) had several reports of sightings over the years.

About 40 years ago I knew the guy that farmed area by the ''u'' shaped in the Vermillion River near where 5 mile creek enters it. It was on the border between Pleasant Ridge township and Saunemin township.
