We found an area on top of the ridge above the river where the soil had been freshly dug up. It was a large rectangle that was roughly the shape that a grave would be. We dug into it a little but found nothing but dirt.
There seemed to be an area trailing in the grass towards this spot. We wondered if someone had buried something there or dug something up there and removed it? We hid nearby periodically to see if anyone returned.

occasions we saw the Saunemin giant ghost-a towering shadowy figure that seemed to walk up and down on the banks of 5 mile creek and the river. It never

actually went to the dug up spot but was along the nearby streambank.
Many people in the town of Saunemin have seen the ghost over the years. I think there was a write up about it in a local paper maybe 40 years ago?.

The Saunemin giant ghost or the ghost of 5mile creek is how we always referred to him. Some friends of mine have a path in the woods near a bridge along 5mile creek that we take for our atvs. On more than one occasion we left quickly when we say the giant looking at us from the woods.
