Back in 1992-93, we lived in a house on 1st Street that was haunted. The place was creepy to my daughter and I on sight, from outside, and worse inside. The walls had these older iron-looking heat vents, rather large. Sometimes it sounded like someone/thing moving around in there. NO sign of rats or mice, or any other animals either. Just odd noises. The basement was sprawling with rooms sectioned off, and not very well lit. The whole feel down there was just bad. The attic entrance (crawl space-type) was at the top of the basement stairs (no doubt still is; the house is still there. ) You could not have paid me to go up there.
Late at night whenever the husband was working all night, (happened a lot then) I could hear what sounded like heavy booted footsteps walking around up there. Remember, this was NOT a full attic and not high enough to stand up in. The footsteps were never there when the husband was home, but always when he wasn't. During the day, the door to the basement would come open on its own. The door had a hook latch, and you could literally shake it, and it wouldn't open, and there were no drafts. Yet, at times during the day with no one there but me and no pets, all doors and windows locked, that door would come open. We only lived there a few short months, and I was glad to go! Nightmares came with the place too. That ended once we left. The house is still there, and I wonder if others have experienced anything in it.

My ex-husband was stationed at Fort Riley. We lived in these new apartments off base in Junction City. One of the weirdest things that happened was one day I heard what sounded like my husband trying to open the door. I went to the window and did not see our car. However, I heard keys jingling in the door. Our cat was at the bottom of the stairs growling. I panicked and called 911. The operator stood on the phone, and I walked half ways down the stairs, and she was like I hear it. Someone is trying to come in. She dispatched an undercover officer. Well, once he showed up she told me to open the door. He checked everywhere. No one was there.
This happens once more, but I didn't call the cops. I called my husband to come home. He did. No one was there. Well in our second bedroom there was a square that led to what I would call attic to the apartment, not enough space for a person to stand. I would hear footsteps walking back and forth. One morning my ex walked into the room and part of the ceiling was on the floor. We called Maintenance. He showed up mad at us. He found papers that belonged to my husband up in the ''attic''. It was impossible for us to be up there because you would need a ladder. Little things like this would always happen.
