Hi, this is a warning and story to all who visit Salina, Kansas. It isn't a location in this town that's evil... No... It's many.
Indian rock is a terrifying place at night and in the day. As part of our running for Cross Country we have to go up the rock for our home course. There are rolling fields of wheat, a natural waterfall, and a drop away cliff. While running the course, I got a glimpse of an odd sight, two eyes, completely devoid of a pupil watching me. That wasn't the only occurrence; my friends went up there for fun and have reported an area in part of it where if you shine a flashlight, it doesn't pierce the darkness. There's more. The hill has many sides and entrances, so one dusty day I was examining a blocked off road on the hill with curiosity. Stepping over the chain, I walked a few feet till I spotted a tennis ball. Bored, I chucked it down the road. Seeing nothing more of interest, I climbed back to the right side of the chain and was about to go explore elsewhere when I heard something hit the sand/gravel. I turned around and saw the tennis call sorting there. I shouted ''hello'' and considered going in to look for someone, but I was a little scared, so I ran home.
Still nearby Indian rock is the Dike. An upraised area used for runners, bicyclists, or walkers that circles around half the town. On a whim, a friend and I had ventured down under the overpass, where a path leads so runners/bicyclists could safely continue their route without having to play froggy. There were these bottles hanging from ropes everywhere. My friend joked about the ropes being tied like a noise, and I had laughed uneasily. Then I just got this feeling of malice, and I suggested we get out of there, and we did.
Then there's Lakewood Park, the woods. The trails that everyone travels near the Frisbee golf are fine. There are trails that are not usually ventured on, around the back side that leaf to the prairie and deep into the woods that are something to be scared of. I take back my first statement, none of the trails are clear. After 4 o'clock, the park becomes empty, and the trails become darker. My first notable experience was a fog, a thick looming fog that had covered them. It was 7 pm, and we were playing at the park, but in a game of tag. I had drifted too close to a trail's entrance, and I had stumbled down the path. I remember the fog had been so thick I couldn't see. Then a low growling was heard, and I bolted back up the path. I had only been down there for a few seconds. When I came up, it had been around a half an hour, and the adults were looking for me.
A year ago, I had taken a camcorder on the trails, hoping to find something spooky. Two of my friends had entered after me and were right behind me. We talked until I asked them to hold on a second while I checked out something. I found that they had made a wheat-maze and back tracked down the path to tell my friends about it. They were gone. Dismayed, I texted them. One of them finally replied and had told me they never even entered the trails. They had seen me enter and then completely disappear.
In recent years, just a few months ago, my friends and I were down on the trails for a game of Slender-tag (we made it up. ) One person was Slenderman and had to catch the other players. The other players had to stay in the trails and use the operator symbol (draw it with a piece of chalk) to try and lure the ''Slenderman'' towards then and then run. It was more like hide-and-go-seek. Well? Anyway, partway through the game my friend came running to me and said ''pause the game, you've gotta see this. '' The trails are a little twisty, so it took us awhile to find the ''thing. '' When we did it was frightening. A bench had been flipped over to make like a sort of barricade, but it looked like it had failed. Part of it was scorched, and there were knife marks on the one side. We found a blade embedded in the wood. Also, there was a nail with a piece of fabric and a big dirt mound nearby.... The shape of a body. We got the hell out of there.
