I was hunting squirrel near the old ruins of Cooksville when I noticed the smell of smoked ham. It was heavy in the air. I thought for a minute that someone might be cooking on a camp stove. The air was still and the only sound was the chattering of squirrels and the sound of a Blue Herron in the tree above me.

Beyond the trees to my left I saw some movement. It appeared that a figure in a long dress was moving towards me. It appeared to be gliding above the ground. I had nowhere to go. My truck was parked across the ford and I knew I could not outrun whatever it was.

I started walking away hoping I could get to my truck before being overtaken. When I reached my truck I gathered up the courage to look back. Standing across the ford the figure seemed to fade away.
I then noticed that the smell in the air was also gone.
