Alright I live in this area and there are only one or two places that are thought to be truly haunted. One of those places is bulldozed now. Also there are no sounds of trains in the night there are sounds of the occasional teenager driving through and dogs barking. Supernatural? Not at all.

There are a lot of ghost in Houstonia. I have seen one in my grandmothers house, along with my mom all her sisters, and some of their husbands, but not bad ghost's, just nice ones- the one I saw was to have been that of my great grandfather who died before I was born. And there was to be a lady in a long white flowing night gown seen in one the house and going up road. My sisters have seen Indian girls, little boys in old time clothing, and our neighbor saw a person in robe with no face, just black. There are a lot of haunted houses and places in Houstonia, but most of the locals do not want to be disturbed, as most houses are handed down generation to generation, and the spirits are usually those of families, or older generations of holustonia, as long as you leave them alone they leave you alone-we all have just gotten use to them. There are a lot of haunted houses and places here. My parents' farm outside Houstonia is to be very haunted, as several people refuse to go out in the fields to go hunting anymore because of tons of green floating lights that hover above the ground. One man saw a ghost and ran back home and refuses to come over at night. There is a slave shack, an old mill on this property. My mom and dad have seen and experienced several thing in the farm house on this property also.My uncle who use to live near hea saw an Indian so this might explain some as he loved his farm. In Houstonia on some days and nights you can hear and feel a train come through Houstonia, you hear the whistle blowing very loud, and can hear clack of wheels and vibrations. There is the old railroad tracks from the railroad days in Houstonia and this is the area the sound comes from. Lamonte is to far away for it to be their trains. We have just gotten use to it. Our cemetery is right next to where old tracks were at and my daughter got some orbs out there.Like I said a lot of haunted places in Houstonia and outside on the farms, as a big tornado hit Houstonia and killed a lot of people I think in late 1800's or early 1900's. Plus the old Sweet Water resort use to be located between Houstonia and Sweet Springs. You can come tour our town just do not expect to many to let you in their houses as we protect our spirits as they are part of our family, but you get can come and check out our little town. Oh-our school is to have a ghost also.I also know that my sister has a little farm outside Houstonia and my mom took a picture at my nephew's first bd party and in the window you can clearly see an old time cowboy looking person, that looks kind of like my dad- cool but eerie!! I could tell you my family's experiences with a certain house with good spirits but yet kind of scary to experience them but we do not want the house disturbed, and well as for my house it to is to be haunted but we never have had any real experience here.Just my daughters radio turning by it's self from rap to country and if she turned it back it would turn back to country again. Only things happened to her. I feel safe and protected in the house, but the former owners and scared of the house, and told us all types of things went on here, but non for us, of course a lot of people in my family have lived here, and we feel secured here-oh it may sound funny but I talk to the house if I am repainting it etc., to explain things to it, makes me feel better. There are also a lot of people including in my family that can sense things, maybe this is why we are so protective of our spirits and ghosts. Have fun touring our little town of 389 people. .
