I've always heard stories about the old hospital, but one night I went for a walk. I always walked by there nothing ever happened, but that one night I felt someone staring at me, and I looked up. In the doorway of that old building I saw a little girl standing there and ways gone just like that. I was scared. I went home and told my friend. They didn't believe me. Now when I walk by there I always look twice just to make sure it isn't just me. I only saw that little girl once since that night in the upstairs window. I don't live there anymore, but what I wouldn't go back to Marshall and go inside that building. I know some of my friends have been in there, and some other friends that want to go in there. A lot of people were born there and died there. I heard a lot of things I just wish I could see.

My sister and I delivered a flower arrangement to Ridge Park cemetery for my sister's mother-in-law's graveside service scheduled later that day. As we were leaving, we passed a parked car of another relative. He was in the driver's seat there was a female in the front passenger seat and an older distinguished gentleman in the rear passenger seat. The older gentleman in the backseat acknowledged my sister and me with a 'top of the morning' gesture to us. After the service my sister asked to explain to the relative that had been in the driver's seat what we had witnessed earlier that day. He told us he was alone!!! His wife was in the hospital in Springfield MO, and he had been in the cemetery to clear off his mother, father, and little sister's graves. He was very concerned about his ill wife and needed some alone time to hope and pray his wife would be fine. His family was obviously in the car with him to comfort him!!!.

I know something about the area where Walmart, Applebee's and the Train Depot motel is today. When I was about 12 to 13 years old. I lived near the Marshall Plaza. Being a boy I was curious and adventurous. I climbed a small hill which of course is flat now. At the top of the hill was a barbed wire fence, and you could a corn field that had been harvested. Off in almost the center was a small cluster of trees with what looked like rocks piled around the bases. I crossed the fence line and walked to the trees. When I got there the rocks were not rocks but were headstones. I went home told and my mom, and she couldn't believe it. She had my older brother go with me. We came back, and he told her that I was right that there had to be between 75 to 100 or more. My mother told us to forget about it and never talk about it, and I haven't until now.
