At the train station in Poplar Bluff people have reported seeing a young woman inside the station around 3 a.m... It has been said that she was waiting for her husband to return from a business trip. He never arrived. The young woman went home and waited. She found out weeks later that he had not been on a business trip, but with his mistress. The young woman was so distraught that she went back to the train station and jumped in front of the

Comment by Terry: When I read this article I had to comment. My grandfather worked at this depot for nearly 40 years my father worked there for 38 years and I worked there for 9 years. They were agents at this depot but I was later the janitor service and my husband and I worked there after we both worked at our full time jobs. We worked way into the early morning hours and never once heard of this story or saw any type of ghost. We not only took care of the depot building but also the parking area and train tracks so I spent a lot of nights out picking up trash off the tracks and never saw or felt anything out of the ordinary. I spent a large portion of my life in that building from childhood to middle age so if there were something paranormal going on there I'm sure I would have heard about it or seen or felt something long ago.
I do believe in the paranormal and have had experiences of it myself a few times over the years but never at the old depot. It's funny how legends get started and just keep on growing. By the way I have experienced the eerie things that happen on Wilcox Road train tracks. They are true and really haunted but they are also in operation and do have real trains running down those tracks so be careful and don't park right on the tracks if your seeking to see if that legend is true or not. You don't have to park on the tracks or even walk those tracks to experience the ghosts there. You just have to be patient and sit and wait. Sooner or later you'll find out what everyone has been talking about for many years.
I'm 61 years old and this legend has been going on since long before I experienced it with some friend way back when I was still in high school.
