I used to rent an old farmhouse outside of town. There didn't seem to be anything creepy about it at first, and it was very secluded. After about six to eight months in the house, I began to get a feeling that I was being watched. I had night terrors, and figures would appear in my room.
On one such night, I woke to the sound of someone riffling through my husband's chest of drawers. I assumed it was my husband desperately looking for his keys

or something he must need for work. He would often leave before dawn. I sat up. The room was dark, but I could make out the outline of a figure, pawing

at the things in my husband's open drawer. I realized that this figure, completely black, was smaller than my husband.
''Honey?'' I said tentatively. The figure, instantly, upon the sound of my voice, stopped what it was doing. Its head turned toward me, staring at me with a blank face, then in a heartbeat rushed toward me as if to attack. I screamed and prepared to try to defend myself. Fear rushed over me and I felt a cold breeze flow over my bed. The
