The following story happened to me in June 2008. I'm an avid angler and when I heard there was good catfishing to be had in Leigh I drove down to Maple Creek Recreation Area in hopes of some good night time catfishing. I was out in the boat for most of the night and had already caught a few small ones but had thrown them back. Then, suddenly around 3:30 am there was a good jerk on my line, and I reeled in a very good sized cat. When I got him in the

boat I noticed he was different. The fish was certainly odd, but all catfish are more or less odd in shape and odor and color. Still, it was unlike anything

I had ever seen. The proportions of its body seemed slightly altered in a weird way that's impossible to describe, while its face had taken on an expression which I had never seen on a catfish before. I weighed it on my scale at around thirteen pounds and guessed it might be good for a master angler award, but the thing unsettled me so much I decided to throw it back.
The next week I had forgotten that unnatural looking fish and went back to Leigh
