Whistlers Bridge in Stanton, me and two friends went down to a bridge where a man hanged himself and his family for some unknown reason. But that night we saw a figure standing on the bridge, and at the same moment we heard whistling. We also found the mans name carved in places ''Paul''|
And we found what we believed was his little girls shoe print frozen in the ground between, we later found the shoe and we found out it was made in the 1800s, spooky

Comment by anonymous: Alright, I am also from Stanton. First of all the legend began with a man and his family. One night he shot and killed his entire family. Officials never determined the cause of his rampage.
After becoming overcome with guilt ''Whistler'' hung himself from the second bridge of the property. Many have gone out to explore the area, but there isn't much left. Some people say that while walking around they hear gunshots as if Whistler is in the middle of his murderous rampage.|
Others, hear the faint sound of whistling. It is said that the property gets the name ''Whistlers'' because the man would sit below the bridge, where he hung himself, and whistle as he fished. As for the name Paul, he was a Stanton farmer in 1893. According to city records farmed grain and his hobbies were ''hunting and fishing''. It is very possible that he was ''Whistler''.
Comment by Jo: The man's name listed in the previous input (Paul) was not the man that killed his family. His parents Herman and Emma owned the land. Paul died in 1979, and his wife Amelia died in 1998. Paul may have carved his initials though. Also his father Herman died in 1900, and Emma died in 1959. So the person that killed his family is still a mystery and may have been renting the home at the time.
